President Obama was excited as a child who received a gift from Santa Claus during Christmas for the recent successful mission on Mars in August.
According to the Christian Science Monitor, "Through your dedicated efforts, Curiosity stuck the landing and captured the imagination and attention of millions of people, not just around the country but people all around the world," President Obama said. "It's really mind-boggling what you've been able to accomplish."
President Obama said he "could not be more excited" about the car-size rover's mission to explore Mars' Gale Crater over the next two years. The rover touched down on the Red Planet on August 5 PDT to search for signs that Mars might have once had water and the other conditions thought necessary for life. NASA broadcast the presidential call live on NASA TV.

"If in fact you do make contact with Martians, please let me know right away," President Obama said, "because I've got a lot of other things on my plate, but I suspect that will go to the top of the list, even if they're just microbes."
Instead of getting excited about this achievement and jumping up and down, I found it as a mission that is bound to perish.
I remember once when my friend saw me excited for my upcoming vacation and the places I was trying to visit across the ocean, he said something I will never forget.

People travel miles away looking for excitement while not knowing that the treasure is already found at their backyard.
They don’t have to look any further or spend money and time searching for it as the jewel is already within their grasp.
He said if you just drive around the nearby cities in Ontario and see the beauty and magnificence of nature you will be amazed by what we have. As the Ontario vehicle license plate says about the province, it is yours to discover. We in Canada have many things we should be proud of, beautiful sceneries that the world is envy of including waterfalls and mountains.
The Sinking Ship
I felt very sad to see Mr. Obama spending about $2.5 billion looking for excitement outer space while we already have enough to celebrate for on planet earth.
How can the President of hope spend such amount money looking for hope elsewhere when he has millions of hopeless people in his backyard, people who have no healthcare coverage and those whose homes are being repossessed by the banks?
How can the President spend such money to find whether other planets can sustain life when we already have a planet big enough to accommodate us all?

Before we go any further and exploit other planets, we should first try to fix our own planet that is going to disarray. We have a mess to deal with whether it is about famine in Africa, political instability in many areas around the globe, global warming – to name few.
We have polluted our environment, we have no peace in many corners of the globe; poverty is at its highest peak.
We have become our own enemy by inventing nuclear weapons that are the real threat to our safety and security.
I wish such billions were spent in more noble and constructive causes to save the sinking ship of humanity and to restore hope, peace, stability and sanity back to the senseless world we are living in.
