The last ten days of Ramadan are very special days in the life of every Muslim. These days are the most blessed days in the blessed month of Ramadan, the month the Holy Qur’an was revealed in. Muslims believe that although the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be on him) was promised Paradise, he used to exert himself even more in worship during these last ten days, hoping to draw closer to Allah. The Prophet's wife `A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, the Prophet used to tighten his waist belt and used to pray all the night, and used to keep his family awake for the prayers." (Al-Bukhari)
Since the ten special nights of Ramadan are around the corner, you must have some goals you intend to achieve in such a highly rewarding season. Perhaps you want to add another complete recitation of the Qur'an or you would like to increase the hours of prayers at night. Maybe you are preparing for i`tikaf during part or whole of the ten nights.
- What is your goal in the last third of Ramadan?
- What acts of worship you are going to focus on?
- What about Laylat Al-Qadr; do you have special arrangements for it?
- Is there any special Du`aa' you want to request from Allah in these days?
Record your goals here and share them with us. Make them pledges, rather than mere dreams, that you are going to commit to. And let's all pray that Allah enables all of us to achieve our targets in the last third of Ramadan.
